Susanna was born in 1827.  Susanna's father was Samuel Draper and her mother was Maria Asher.  Her paternal grandparents were Daniel Draper and Elizabeth Sainsbury.  She was the eighth of nine children.  She had five brothers and three sisters, named Daniel, James, Samuel, Thomas, Henry, Mary, Maria and Elizabeth.
