Modesta was born on October 15th, 1880 in El Palau d'Anglesola (Pla d'Urgell). Lleida. Catalunya. and her baptism took place on October 16th, 1880 at El Palau d'Anglesola (Pla d'Urgell). Lleida. Catalunya. Església de Sant Joan Baptista conducted by Dean Francisco Solà.  Her godfathers were Ignasi Pou (tiet i casat) pagès, d'El Palau and her godmother was Manuela Pou (dona de Claudi Fontanet) d'El Palau.  Modesta's father was Ramon Fontanet Torres and her mother was Rosa Pou Golim.  Her paternal grandparents were Pere Fontanet Ivañes and Madrona Torres Reñer; her maternal grandparents were Felip Pou Yyyy and Dominga Golim Yyyy. She had a brother and a sister, named Felip and M. del Carme.  She was the youngest of the three children.
