Josep was born on November 7th, 1871 in Sidamon (Pla d'Urgell). Lleida. Catalunya.. Josep's father was Antònio Andrés Casellas and his mother was Rosa Companys Oliveres.  His paternal grandparents were Antoni Andrés Canosa and Raimunda Caselles Gelabert; his maternal grandparents were Jaume Companys Solé and Joana Oliveres Manso. He had five brothers and a sister, named Manuel, Jaume, Francisco, Bautista, Ramon and Maria.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 64 on October 18th, 1936 in Bellpuig (Urgell). Lleida. Catalunya..
