Her maternal grandparents were Friedrich Jon “Fred” Sprecher and Louise “Christine” Gruning (Sprecher) Grunning. She had six brothers and three sisters, named Christian, Lou, Osker, Reinhold, Arthur, Benjamin, Louise, Friedricka and Kathrina. She was the youngest of the ten children.
