Gregoria's father was Pedro Benito and her mother was Juana Álvaro (García).  Her maternal grandparents were  Tomás Álvaro and  Ruperta García.  She was the fifth of eight children.  She had four brothers and three sisters, named Antonio, Eutiquiano, Pedro, Tomás, Agripina, Anunciación and Lourdes.
