Antonio's father was Pedro Benito and his mother was Juana Álvaro (García).  His maternal grandparents were  Tomás Álvaro and  Ruperta García.  He was the second of eight children.  He had three brothers and four sisters, named Eutiquiano, Pedro, Tomás, Agripina, Anunciación, Gregoria and Lourdes.
