Valentina's father was Cirilo García (Carrascal) and her mother was Amparo Álvaro (García).  Her paternal grandparents were Julián García and Santas Carrascal; her maternal grandparents were  Tomás Álvaro and  Ruperta García.  She is the third of eight children.  She had five brothers and two sisters, named Cirilo, Pedro, Tomás, Julián, José, Patricia and Juliana.  She had a half-sister named Felicitas.
