Thomas was born about 1853.  Thomas' father was Keith Forbes Milne and his mother was Christian Brown.  His paternal grandparents were Keith Milne and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Alexander Brown and Mary Stephen.  He had five brothers and four sisters, named Andrew, Keith, Charles, Robert, John, Janet, Mary, Margaret and Isabella.  He was the seventh oldest of the ten children.
