Emma was born in 1866 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.  Emma's father was Richard Jones and her mother was Ellen Webb.  She had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Arthur, Albert, Nelly, Edith and Elsie.  She was the oldest of the seven children.
