John was born about 1836 in Aberdeenshire. Scotland.  John's father was Arthur Davidson and his mother was Annie McDonald.  His paternal grandparents were Walter Davidson and <Unknown>.  He had two sisters named Margaret and Mitchell.  He was the oldest of the three children.
