Amala's father is Devanayagam, Ariyuraan and her mother is Elizabethammal.  Her maternal grandfather is Seluvi Veetaar . She had three brothers and four sisters, named Madalaimuthu, Alexander, Santhanam, Dhanamary, Agnes, Anthoniammal and Arockiamary.
