William Duke of Cumberland's father was King George II of England and Hanover and his mother was Caroline of Brandenburg-Ansbach.  His paternal grandparents were King George I of England and Hanover and Sophia Dorothea of Brunswick-Luneberg. He had a brother and three sisters, named Frederick Prince of Wales, Louisa Princess of Great Britian, Anne and Mary.  He died in 1765.
