Louise's father was Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and her mother was Queen Victoria of England.  Her maternal grandparents were Edward Duke of Kent and Victoria of Saxo-Coburg. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Alfred, Arthur, Leopold, King Edward VII of England, Victoria, Beatrice, Alice and Helena.
