Leopold's father was Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and his mother was Queen Victoria of England.  His maternal grandparents were Edward Duke of Kent and Victoria of Saxo-Coburg. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Alfred, Arthur, King Edward VII of England, Victoria, Beatrice, Alice, Helena and Louise.
