Dorthea Isabella was born in 1629.  Dorthea Isabella's father was Christen IV Danish King of Denmark and Norway and her mother was Christina Munck.  Her paternal grandparents were Frederick II King of Denmark and Norway and Sophia Duchess of Mecklenburg-Gustrow. She had two brothers and six sisters, named Waldemar Christen, Frederick, Anna Christina, Sophia Isabella, Eleanor Christina, Christina, Hedvig and Mary Catherine.  She was the eighth oldest of the nine children. She had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Frederick, Christen, Frederick III King of Denmark and Norway, Ulric, Shopia and Isabella.  She died at the age of 58 in 1687.
