Charlotte's father was King George III of England and Hanover and her mother was Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.  Her paternal grandparents were Frederick Prince of Wales and Augusta of Saxo-Gotha. She had seven brothers named Adolphous Duke of Cambridge, Augustous Duke of Sussex, King William IV of England and Hanover, Edward Duke of Kent, King George IV of England and Hanover, Frederick Duke of York and Ernest Augustus King of Hanover and Duke of Cumberland.
