Josephine was born on January 2nd, 1882.  Josephine's father was Thomas Auffray and her mother was Marguerite.  Her paternal grandparents were Augustin Auffray and Louise  LeBlanc. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Ferdinand, Alphee, Tilmon, Albenie, Leonie and Delina.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
