Albenie was born on February 29th, 1892.  Albenie's father was Thomas Auffray and his mother was Marguerite.  His paternal grandparents were Augustin Auffray and Louise  LeBlanc. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Ferdinand, Alphee, Tilmon, Leonie, Josephine and Delina.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
