Charles was born on December 24th, 1880 in Virginia.1  Charles' father was William Henry Shinaut and his mother was Susan Alice Hix.  His paternal grandparents were Rueben Shinaut and Eleanor Franklin; his maternal grandparents were Hix and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and three sisters, named David, Earl, Joseph, Estella, Mary and Ethel.  He died at the age of 38 on June 22nd, 1919 in Fullerton, Nance County, Nebraska.

Charles and Mary were married on September 9th, 1903 in Fairfax, Atchison County, Missouri.
