William Jefferson was born on August 3rd, 1847 in Indiana, USA.1   William Jefferson's father was Jonathan Jefferson Hinkle and his mother was Catharine Lentz.  His paternal grandfather was Anthony Hinkle and his paternal grandmother is Barbary (Barbara) Seitz. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Isaac W, Jonathan M, John Henry, James, Delilah, Elizabeth, Mary, Margaret Ann "Maggie" and Catherine.  He was the fifth youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 59 on September 3rd, 1906 in Bloomington, Monroe, Indiana, USA.  He was buried in Bethel Cemetery (aka Mount Bethel).2
