Nancy was born in 1783.  Nancy's father was Pvt David Hanby and her mother was Virginia Jane Dalton.  Her maternal grandparents were Samuel Dalton Sr and Anne. She had three brothers named John, Samuel and Gabriel.  She was the third oldest of the four children.
