Sônia was born on June 22nd, 1941 in Além Paraiba; MG and her baptism took place there. Sônia's father was Octávio de Castro Cortes and her mother was Ana Marcondes Cortes. Her maternal grandparents were João Marcondes dos Santos and Emiliana Monteiro de Barros Marcondes. She has four brothers and two sisters, named Octávio José, Nélson, <Unknown>, Jaime, Emiliana and Therezinha. She is the third youngest of the seven children.-
