Mr Moses Depuy

Moses was born in 1657 in Artois. Moses' father was Mr Nicholas Depuy and his mother was Mrs Catalina De Vos (De Vaux). He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Nicholas, Joseph, Aaron, Magdalina and Susannah. He was the second oldest of the seven known children. He died at the age of 100 in 1757 in Rochester.¹

General Notes
- Moses studied navigation and engaged to go as captain on a merchantman. He went to Kingston, got acquainted with Miss Maria Wiynkoop - went down & the ship did not sail so he met with Maria again and got married.
  
  At the age of 92 he was described as very healthy, florid countenance, common size, broad, strong, straight.
  
  Was listed as receiving in excess of two pounds, based on a rate of three pence per day for military sevice between 11/1697 and 5/1698. He served in Capt. John Nanfan's company and was paid "out of ye money rased by act of assembly for ye making 300 effective men at ye frontiers at Albany" - Leroy Beck DePuyy Family History (1984)
