Gershom's father was William Wentworth and his mother is Elizabeth Knight.  His paternal grandfather was William Wentworth and his paternal grandmother is Susannah Carter; his maternal grandfather was Ezekiel Knight and his maternal grandmother is Elizabeth Knight. He had five brothers and a sister, named Ezekiel, Paul, Ephraim, Sylvanus, Timothy and Elizabeth. He had three half-brothers named Benjamin, Samuel and John.  He died on March 2nd, 1731 in Dover, Strafford, New Hampshire, United States.1
