John was born on November 8th, 1754 in Windham, Rockingham, New Hampshire.  John's father was Alexander Simpson and his mother is Jennet Templeton.  His paternal grandfather was William Simpson; his maternal grandfather is Templeton. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Alexander, Samuel, William, William, Sarah, Jannet and Agnes.  He died at the age of 70 on November 18th, 1824 in Windham, Rockingham, New Hampshire.
