Josek was born on November 6th, 1859 in Golub-Dobrzyn, Poland.1   Josek's father was Gerszon Pieniek and his mother was Ita Bayla (Buna?).  His paternal grandparents were Eliasz Pieniek and Ryfka. He had three brothers named Mendel, Tojwie and Eliasz.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
