Yankiel (Jack) Orenstein

Yankiel (Jack) was born in January 1914 in Wyszkow, Poland.¹ Yankiel (Jack)'s father is Simcha Bunem Orenstein and his mother is Beila Bloom. His paternal grandfather is Yitzchak Aaron Orenstein and his paternal grandmother was Sura Zlata Pieniek. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Szama (Sam), Yitzchak Aaron, Deborah, Sura Rifka (Sylvia), Tauba (Toby), Faiga (Florence) and Szena Golda (Gloria). He died at the age of 82 in 1996.

- "My father, Jack ORENSTEIN, was born in Wyszków (on the Bug River), located northeast of Warszawa, Poland in January, 1914. Sixteen years later, he emigrated to the United States to join the rest of his immediate family, the bulk of whom arrived in 1929. The eldest of seven children, Dad was raised in an orthodox Jewish home located at 13 Rynek (the "market") and studied in various yeshivos in Wyszków and Warszawa, prior to studying briefly at Torah V'Daas in Brooklyn, NY.
