Eliza was born on April 5th, 1831 in Fisher Street Barking and her christening took place on April 10th, 1831 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.1   Eliza's father was William Godfrey (B Barking Fisherman) and her mother was Ann Marie Darnell (b Poplar).  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Godfrey and Sarah Blackwell. She had six brothers and four sisters, named William, Henry, John, Thomas, James, Thomas, Emma, Ann, Ann and Emma.  She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 46 on February 10th, 1878 in Wickham House Back Lane Barking.  The funeral took place at St Margaret's  Church Barking and was arranged by Saggers.  She was buried on February 18th, 1878 at St Margaret's  Church Barking.2
