Lydia was born in 1867 in Salford, Lancashire, England.  Lydia's father was Charles CROOK and her mother was Eliza HOLLOWS.  Her paternal grandparents were Francis CROOK and Hannah RHOADES.  She had three brothers and two sisters, named Charles, Thomas, Reuben, Emma and Mary.  She was the oldest of the six children.
