Hans Huber

  • Baptized 7 Sep 1663 in Hausen; aged 7 in 1670, 19 in 1682; aged
    27 in 1689 census; in 1696 lived in Wesenmatt; in 1700 lived
    in Hausen; not in 1710 census; He was a follower of Menno Simons
    and was forced to flee Switzerland due to persecution. Lived
    in the Palatinate near Strasburg before coming to America. Hans
    immigrated 8-24-1728 on ship Morton House. Huber's Forge, 1st
    of 4 Ore Mines of Lancaster & Lebanon Line, 1st Steigel Glass
    factory before moving to Lancaster. Hans wrote his will in 1745/46.
    He located near New Holland, Lancaster Co., PA and had a patent
    on land March 20, 1717 in Earl Twp., 200 acres dated Aug 8, 1735.
    Each of his children got a share of his estate. Family now Hoover.
    
    
    Hans died in Earl Township in October 1750. It is not known when Margaret
    passed away. Family tradition states they are buried at Graffdale, Lancaster
    Co. Pennsylvania, however, the location of their graves isn't known as there
    where no headstones placed at the sites.

    HANS HUBER/HOOVER
    
    February 17, 1745/46 Will Book A, Pages 193 & 194 Lancaster Co. Pennsylvania:
    
    Will of Hans Hoober of Erle Township in the County of Lancaster and Province of
    Pennsylvania. Yeoman I do herby make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament
    That is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul unto
    the hands of God that gave it, and for my body, I recommend it to the earth to
    be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my
    executors, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the
    same again by the mighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate
    wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise, and
    dispose of the same in the following manner and form:
    
    Imprimus: It is my will, and I do order that, in the first place all my just
    debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied.
    
    Item: I give and bequeath unto my children, the sum of twenty pounds, to be
    divided into six equal shares, namely, to my son Jacob a share, and to the
    daughters Catherina, Magdalena, Margarethe, Christiana, and Anna--Late
    deceased--to her children an equal share.
    
    Item: It is my will that my wife's--her clothes--shall not be appraised to my
    estate, and if she dies before me, they are left to the discretion of her to
    dispose them off as she pleaseth before her decease.
    
    Item: I give and bequeath unto Margareth, my beloved wife, the third part of m
    real and personal estate, and if my said wife should die before me, than I give
    and bequeath unto my wife's sister's children which are yet in Germania, named
    Valentin Borg and Margareth Borg, and their heirs, the sum of ninety pounds,
    current money of Pennsylvania, and five pounds to the poor of the Mennonits at
    the place in Germania called in high Duch-the Ubersherimer Hoff- to be paid out
    of my estate.
    
    Item: It is my will, and I do order, that the remainder of my estate be equall
    divided amongst all my children and grandchildren above named, into six equal
    shares, as above said.
    
    Item: I do likewise constitute, make and ordain, my well beloved and trusting
    friends, Christian Sensenny and Charles Christopher, my only and sole executors
    of this, my Last Will and Testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke
    and disannul all and every other former testaments, wills, legacies and
    executors by me, in any ways before this time named, willed and bequeathed,
    ratifying and confirming this, and no other, to be my Last Will and Testament.
    In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 17th day of
    February 1745/46 A.D.
