Andrew's father was John Hargen and his mother was Mary Jane Rawcliffe. His paternal grandparents were William Hargen and Margaret Bone. He had two brothers named William and John. He was the second oldest of the three children. He died at the age of 80 on April 12th, 1982 in Toronto.
