LEWIS THROCKMORTON Jr., born 1769/70 Hampshire Co., Va.,170  married Mrs. DRUSILLA (HARTLEY) FLORA 1794 in Pike Co., Ohio, died 1857-1860, possibly buried in Grahamville Cemetery, Scioto Twp., Jackson Co., Ohio. Drusilla was born in Maryland 16 Mar. 1774, died 28 Mar. 1870 in Sunfish Twp., Pike Co., Ohio, probably buried in Bethel Cemetery, Pike Co., Ohio. Her parents were Thomas & Rebecca (Bigustoff) Hartley.171
    
        Lewis sold his land in Hampshire Co., Va. in 1796. He and his brother Daniel (see
    viii. below) then joined a party to trek through Pennsylvania to Ohio.
    
        Lewis enlisted in the Infantry at Portsmouth, Jackson Co.(?), Ohio. He served from 20 Sep. 1813 until discharged 20 Mar. 1815. He was a corporal in Capt. John T. Chunn’s Company, 17th U.S. Infantry. From Portsmouth he was marched to Chillicothe, where he guarded British prisoners. In the spring of 1814 he went to Lower Sandusky. From there he sailed to Put-in-Bay Island and on to Erie, Penn.; thence into northern New York State and Canada. He served as a wheelwright. In 1850 he applied for a pension, giving his age as 83 years. That dates his birth to 1767. Probably he had exaggerated his age in order to get the pension. In his pension claim he stated that the cold and exposure of the campaign caused severe back trouble and other ills. On 2 Apr. 1851 he was granted at the Jackson Co. Court House 160 acres of land. Whether he used or sold this land is not known. His pension file number is IF-18422.172
    
        In the 1840 census for Scioto Twp., Jackson Co., Ohio (p. 26) a Lewis Throckmorton was head of the following household:
    
            * 2 males 15-20 [son Joseph & ?]
            * 1 male 20-30 [son Thomas]
            * 1 male 60-70 [Lewis]
            * 3 females 15-20 [?]
            * 1 female 50-60 [wife Drusilla].
    
        LBS states that "Lewis had a very roving disposition, as shown by the census records and the widely scattered births of his children."173 He was a wheelwright and a blacksmith.174
    
        At the time of the 1860 census Drusilla was living with her son Thomas (see
    k. below).
