Margaret de Clare

Margaret was born in 1250 in Tunbridge, Kent, England.¹ Margaret's father was Earl of Gloucester Richard De Clare and her mother was Maud De Lacie. Her paternal grandparents were Gilbert (The Surety) De Clare and Isobel Marshall; her maternal grandparents were Earl of Lincoln John (The Surety) De Lacy and Margaret De Quincy. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Red Earl, Thomas, Bogo, Isabel and Eglentine. She was the second youngest of the six children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Piers, John, Roese and Eleanor.
