Joseph was born about 1794 and his baptism took place on October 22nd, 1797 in North Bradley.1  Joseph's father was Samuel Deacon and his mother was Mary Keats. He had four brothers and eight sisters, named Samuel, John, Job, Jonah, Ann, Elizabeth, Mary, Jane, Sarah, Jemima, Kezia and Betty.
