James was born on November 28th, 1770 and his baptism took place on January 1st, 1772 in North Bradley.1  James' father was James Chapman and his mother was Ruth Usher.  His paternal grandparents were James Chapman and <Unknown>. He had a brother and a sister, named James and Jane.  He was the youngest of the three children.
