James was born in 1761 and his baptism took place on June 1st, 1767 in North Bradley.1  James' father was James Chapman and his mother was Ruth Usher.  His paternal grandparents were James Chapman and <Unknown>. He had a brother and a sister, named James and Jane.  He was the oldest of the three children.
