Anna was born on February 1st, 1844 in Buxar, India and her baptism took place on April 13th, 1844 in Buxar, , West Bengal, India.1 2  Anna's father was Samuel Boileau Goad and her mother was Emma Gordon Davidson.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Thomas Goad and Jane M Boileau. She had two brothers and a sister, named Horatio, Frederick and Clara.  She was the youngest of the four children.
