Amy was born in 1851 in Uny Lelant Cornwall.1  Amy's father was Samuel Whear and her mother was Alice Uren.  Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Weare and Ann Leacher; her maternal grandparents were Clement Uren and Alice Harris. She had two brothers and a sister, named Clement, William and Caroline.  She was the oldest of the four children.
