Sarah's father was George Parker and her mother was Anna (Hannah) Ford. Her maternal grandparents were Richard Ford and Ann Smith. She had three brothers and three sisters, named John, George, Joseph, Julia, Elizabeth and Angelina. She was the oldest of the seven children.
