Martha was born in 1848 in Northwold, Norfolk.¹

Birth Notes

Martha's father was Henry Clarke and her mother was Elizabeth Gibson. Her paternal grandparents were John Clarke and Hannah Flatt; her maternal grandparents were Jacob Gibson and Elizabeth Bray. She had two brothers and three sisters, named James, John, Sarah, Ann and Rebecca. She was the second youngest of the six children. She had three half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Henry, William, Robert, Rebecca, Rebecca and Sarah.
