Tobias, known as Tobie, was born on February 27th, 1944. Tobie's father was Tobias (Boetie) Johannes Winterbach and his mother was Francina (Francis) Magdalena Bothma. His paternal grandparents were Tobias Johannes Winterbach and Susanna Philippina Louw. He had three brothers and a sister, named Anton, Gawie, Hendrik and Joanie. He died in an accident or as a result of an injury, Helicopter accident, at the age of 22 on April 21st, 1966 in Near Rocky Point, Skeleton Coast, Namibia. The funeral took place in De Doorns. He was buried in De Doorns.
