François Casimir was born on April 3rd, 1845 in Lummen.  François Casimir's father was Joseph Vanderheyden and his mother was Catherina Vanvelck.  He had a brother and four sisters, named Petrus Joannes, Maria Octavie, Emelia Sophie, Marie Henriette and Maria.  He is the second oldest of the six children.
