Coleta was born on April 6th, 1835 in Lummen.  Coleta's father was Bernard Obrechts and her mother was Maria Catherina Moons.  Her maternal grandparents were Pierre Jean Moons and Marie Elisabeth Roelants.  She had a brother and five sisters, named Carolus Ludovicus, Angelina, Maria Theresia, Philomena, Philomena and Carolina.  She was the third oldest of the seven children.
