Carolina was born on January 3rd, 1845 in Lummen.  Carolina's father was Bernard Obrechts and her mother was Maria Catherina Moons.  Her maternal grandparents were Pierre Jean Moons and Marie Elisabeth Roelants.  She had a brother and five sisters, named Carolus Ludovicus, Angelina, Maria Theresia, Coleta, Philomena and Philomena.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
