Gladys was born in 1922.  Gladys' father was William Elijah Asbell and her mother was Lilly Mae Crosby.  Her paternal grandparents were Elias A. Asbell and Lucretia Ella Caroline Truett. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Culbert, William Elijah, A. Aubrey or Aubra, Vesta Mae, Idonia, Myrtle Lee and Janet.  She was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 61 in 1983.
