Andrew was born on January 31st, 1773 in Beath, Fife , Scotland. Andrew's father was David Beath and his mother was Jean Durie. His paternal grandparents were William Beath (younger) and Bethea Balvaird; his maternal grandparents were Alexander Durie and Jean Jamison. William Beath (of Pitgorne) and Marion Ireland were his grandparents through his father's adoption. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, David, Alexander, Robert, John, Anne and Janet.-
