Joan of was born before 1369.  Joan of's father was Edward Iii Plantagenet King of England and her mother was Phillipa De Hainaut.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Ii King of England and Isobella (Queen Consort) of France; her maternal grandparents were William Iii Lebon Comte Dehainaut and Jeanne Countess Dehainault Devalois. She had five brothers and a sister, named Edward Prince of Wales of, Duke of Clarance Lionel of, Duke of Lancaster John of, 1st Duke of York Edmund of, Thomas of and Margaret of.  She is the youngest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Edmund 1st Duke of York.
