William de Cantelou III (William de Cantilupe) 
William was born in 1216 in Calne, Wiltshire, England.1 William's father was William Cantelou II and his mother was Millicent Gournay. His paternal grandparents were William Cantelou I and Mecelin Braci; his maternal grandparents were Hugh de Gournay IV and <Unknown>. He had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas, Juliana and Agnes. He died at the age of 38 on September 25th, 1254 in Calstone, Wiltshire, England. He was buried in Studley Priory, Warwickshire, England.2 1 General Notes

Magna Charta Sureties states that William was Lord Abergavenny, but this is probably dated information. Complete Peerage XIV:87, seems to take William's Abergavenny title away from him, in correcting CP II:129. Burkes seems to agree with CP in stating that William's son George held Abergavenny for 18 years.
