David's father was David Kerr RWS and his mother was Susannah Young. His paternal grandparents were Andrew Kerr Sr and Rachel. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Francis Young, John Young, Martha and Rachel E. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died before February 1822 in Abbeville Co, SC.
