Thomas III was born in 1211 in Vervins, Aisne, Picardy, France.1 Thomas III's father was Thomas II de Coucy and his mother was Mathilde De Réthel. His maternal grandparents were Hughes II De Réthel and Felicite De Broyes. He had a brother and four sisters, named Jean, Yolande, Elisende, Félicité and Agnés. He was the oldest of the six children.-
